| DC DMA Sound Player v1.0 |
----------------------------
Freeware Program

You are free to ditribute this program, just so long as you keep the
operating instructions enclosed and intact.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use
---
Play back "digitised" sounds on the Atari STe or TT computers through
the DMA sound circuitry.
(ie. ST Replay sound files)
It's as easy as loading the data, pointing the hardware to the data buffer,
and telling it play- more or less.
By definition, DMA or direct memory access, takes the load off of the
microprocessor (680x0), so that other duties may be performed. It is ideal
for real-time graphic manipulation while sound plays in the background with
no slow down of either.
Operation
---------
1]
Run DCDMASPL.PRG.
An info alert advises of the name, version, programmers, etc.
Next a file selector appears. Choose the sound file you wish to play and
select OK. Choosing CANCEL exits the program.
Next the Playback Rate alert allows you to choose the rate at which the
sound file is played:
1) 6K = 6258 Hz
2) 12K = 12517 Hz
3) 25K = 25033 Hz
These are the only choices that the DMA hardware allows.
[Note: 50066 Hz was left out...on purpose. ;)
Actually alerts only allow 3 buttons, plus all of the samples I tried
were either 6 or 12 Khz.]
You will notice that the file selector comes back up and the sound is not
influenced by interaction with it. Though, of course, if you choose a new
file to play and the previous sound is still in progress then that previous
sound will be interrupted and the new one started.
2]
Use Install Application on DCDMASPL.PRG for the sound file extender.
